Here's what we'll be working on this week:
Every other Friday, students will have the chance to reflect on the past week by completing a POOF (Positive Observations on Friday) page.
We shared our observations in class, and now students have been asked to share their page with someone at home. For today's team challenge, students had to place nine playing cards so that each row, column and diagonal gave the same total.
It was definitely a challenge!
Each student created a square of art.
Today students used a dichotomous key to classify different modes of transportation.
What great partner work!
In Social Studies today we discussed Rights and Responsibilities.
For example, you have the right to be respected and the responsibility to respect others.
As a class, we came up with five rules for our classroom library.
Students have signed their page to show that they are ready to follow the rules. Parents are also asked to sign.Since school began, we have been discussing the four values of Knights: respect, responsibility, integrity and excellence. We combined our ideas together into a handy-dandy poster, which we have all signed and pledged to follow throughout the year. It will hang on our wall as a constant reminder of how to be a classroom community.
Here's what we'll be working on this week:
This afternoon, students were challenged to create the tallest freestanding structure possible using only three pieces of recycled paper, scissors and glue. What teamwork! Well done!
On Thursday, students should be prepared to tell the class the story of their name!
Remember students: it could be how you got your name, what your name means, or who you are named for.Students had the chance to get know each other, get to know Mme McKenzie and get to know their new school!
